In just four months, Great Wall Motors and five top-tier component giants signed a strategic cooperation agreement, and plans to carry out close cooperation, which is rare in domestic auto brands. On July 15, Great Wall Motors signed a strategic cooperation agreement with French auto parts giant Valeo Group. The two parties will strengthen cooperation in the existing matching wipers, generators, starters, clutches, etc., and expand cooperation to components such as powertrain components, visual systems, thermal systems, and assisted driving systems. Just a week ago, on July 6th, Great Wall Motor and Swedish Autoliv signed a strategic cooperation agreement. After taking a look at Autolif, the world's largest giant of “car occupant protection system”, Great Wall Motor intends to strengthen the technical exchange between active and passive safety and integrated control systems on the basis of previous cooperation on airbags and seat belts.

According to Shang Yugui, deputy general manager of Great Wall Motors, “In fact, we have started a series of in-depth cooperation in the spare parts sector. Since March, Great Wall Motors has signed strategic cooperation agreements with five top auto parts giants, including the United Kingdom. Ricardo, Germany's Mahler Automotive, Germany's Brose, Sweden's Autolif, Valeo."

According to industry sources, Great Wall Motor’s move is quite astute. Five auto parts giants are core auto parts giants. Ricardo UK is a world-renowned automotive power technology development company and the world’s oldest engine and transmission design and manufacturing company. The strength of Germany’s MAHLE is the production of key components, including air management systems, vehicle thermal systems, High-end engine pistons, air-filling valves and other engine key components; Germany's Brose company is a well-known manufacturer of body and interior electromechanical systems, and its products are supplied to more than 40 internationally renowned car brands such as BMW and Volkswagen.

With the exception of Ricardo, the other four companies had previously been parts suppliers for Great Wall Motors, and the two parties already knew better. In addition, Great Wall Motors will be able to obtain relevant intellectual property rights in its five partnerships and use them for domestic cars and exported cars. With these well-known parts giants, the influence of the Great Wall Motor brand will be improved.
